Cents per litre. On the board is the advertised pump price; after discounts is what drivers actually paid once the retailers' discount schemes are counted. The gap is much wider on petrol than on diesel, because most discount vouchers target petrol. The most recent week is marked provisional by the publisher and may be revised.
About these numbers
Fuel stations in Australia come from each state's mandated price reporting scheme. New Zealand fuel sites are locations only, with no prices — New Zealand has no mandated retail fuel price reporting scheme, so there is no feed to read. Knowing where fuel is still matters on a long run, so the sites are shown; the cheapest-ahead and last-chance warnings work on priced stations and pass over them.
The New Zealand averages above are MBIE's weekly fuel price monitoring series, published every Wednesday for the preceding week under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence, © Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment. It is a national figure and is stored well away from station prices, so nothing that works out the cheapest stop ahead of you can mistake an average for a real observation at a real forecourt.
EV charging comes from Open Charge Map under its open data licence. Rest areas in Australia come from federal and state road-authority asset registers; in New Zealand there is no equivalent open register, so they come from OpenStreetMap and carry much less detail per site. Toilets, drinking water, dump points and truck stops are OpenStreetMap throughout.
The last two rows are different measurements and are counted separately. Bridge clearances are heights — will the trailer fit under it — and come from state road authorities in Australia. Mass and structure restrictions are the 50MAX and HPMV restricted-structure list published by NZTA, which is about whether a combination may cross at all. Neither is a substitute for the other, so they are not added together.
